The growth path for Indian hospitality companies has been challenging over the past few years. Grappling with technological limitations, competition from multinational brands, the onset of Covid-19 was a big blow to the sector. Different strategies were adopted to deal with them like expand geographically, incorporating sustainable and social measures to profit from goodwill, or a combination of both. There is an opportunity for the hotel industry in the 2023 budget which can help in amplifying their sustainability quotient. By taking a holistic approach to sustainability, hotel businesses can not only enhance their reputation and appeal to increasingly socially conscious consumers but also improve their long-term financial performance.
