Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, held the Commencement Ceremony to welcome its 11^th cohort of the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) on 13^th June 2022. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Arvind Jha, Senior Vice President, Products, Newgen.

The event commenced with the Director, Dr. Debasish Sanyal, delivering the welcome address. He congratulated the students for their well-deserved candidature and welcomed them to the Great Lakes family. Dr. Sanyal expressed his pride in talking about the multiple achievements that Great Lakes has acquired in the past few years, including the AMBA (UK) accreditation that has brought the institute at par with other AMBA accredited institutions worldwide. He also spoke about the NBA accreditation and what the future holds for the institute. He then introduced the institute’s renowned faculty to the students.

This was followed by a welcome message from Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Great Lakes Institute of Management. He congratulated the students for making it to the premier institute and emphasized the importance of laying the right foundation for their careers moving ahead. Mr. Mohan articulated three core values that the students should develop during their time at the institute. The core values are - polishing one’s skills and competencies, building a positive attitude and taking on new challenges. He mentioned how these values shape us as humans and become our anchors in life.

Every batch at Great Lakes is assigned a batch name that unites them and becomes an identifier. Following the tradition, PGPM Director Dr. Umashankar Venkatesh revealed the batch name for the class of 2023 - the Mauryas. He mentioned that the name Mauryas signifies courage and confidence. Dr. Umashankar further highlighted the importance of working together in this pursuit of learning to the students.

The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by Dr. Kirti Sharma, Associate Professor - Finance & Accounting.
