PGPM Placement Snapshot 2014
Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, had an excellent placement season in 2014 with the 10th batch of PGPM, Progressive Pallavas, achieving 100% placements as well as witnessing an increase in number of recruiters, offers made and compensation levels.
The successful conclusion of placements of both the PGPM and the first batch of the two year PGDM add to the upcoming 10th year celebrations at Great Lakes and reaffirm its position as one of the premier business schools in India. The PGPM 2014 batch consisted of an eclectic mix of students from diverse educational backgrounds and industry experience ranging between 2 to 6 years. Recognizing this talent pool, several new corporates recruited this season in large numbers, offering exciting roles. The fact that all students found suitable roles despite the challenging macro-environment shows the immense trust in the Institute by Corporate India and the faith in the potential of Great Lakers as future business leaders.
Out of the class of 358 students, 302 students took up offers on campus, 42 students on sabbaticals returned to their respective companies and 14 students took up offers off-campus. Ecommerce giant Amazon made the highest domestic offer offering a Project Manager role while Propack Industries made the highest international offer for a Finance and Strategy role.
The placement season saw a 15% increase in the number of recruiters including a large number of first time recruiters. Cognizant was the largest recruiter and companies which made over 10 offers include Accenture, CSC India, Deloitte US, Dexler, HCL Technologies, iNautix, L&T Infotech, Scope International, TCS and ZS Associates. TCS also welcomed back the largest number of students on sabbaticals. The maximum offers were made for Sales and Marketing, Consulting, Finance and Technology roles across both large corporates as well as startups.
Industry – Wise Major Recruiters
*Off-campus offers made by Acccenture BPO, Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances, Calderys India, CRISIL, Dubai, Finoit Technologies, Grace Construction Products, People Strong, Raising iBrows, Sewells Group, Thinklink, etc.
Professor S. Sriram, Executive Director, Great Lakes Institute of Management, said, “We are very happy with the response we have received from the corporate world despite tough economic conditions, with a larger and more diverse base of Recruiters than ever before. This is testament to the confidence of our corporate partners in the quality of our graduates and we look forward to serving their talent needs in the years to come. There were several regular recruiters participated in the campus placements program due to the alumnus performance in their organizations”.
With Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the top three global accreditation agencies, conferring its accreditation to Great Lakes’ PGPM and PGXPM in 2014, the world class standards followed by G reat Lakes and valued by both corporates and students are now globally recognized. Great Lakes got the distinction of becoming the youngest business school in India to receive a top international accreditation (among AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS) and also one of the youngest globally. We expect that the increasingly corporates are going to use global benchmarking in their choice of schools for recruitment and Great Lakes would be a natural partner of choice.
