Under the aegis of the Centre for Women’s Leadership, Great Lakes Institute of Management has introduced a new platform called ‘ENCORE’. Owing to the natural order of nurture, all women at some point feel the need to take a break from their careers to manage their families. Stepping back is simple. However, returning to the workforce is fraught with many complications. Some of these are systemic. Individual concerns such as a feeling of irrelevance and lack of confidence or readiness to return to work, a break in the learning curve, feeling ‘left-behind’ etc. play an equal role in preventing women from re-joining the workforce.
If you are at a similar point in your career, then ENCORE is the perfect choice for you. The ENCORE platform offers short programs spanning a duration of 4 months. With 150 hours of learning across online and face-to-face modules delivering functional skills, soft skills, life skills, and career assistance to help you quickly find yourself poised to start a new and exciting chapter in your professional life.

ENCORE Scholarship
We are offering up to 100% merit cum means-based Tuition Fee waiver to women on a career break pursuing our certificate programs. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic and professional merit and the financial need of the candidates.

Professional Certificate Program in Digital Marketing
As ENCORE's first program, we are launching a Professional Certificate Program in Digital Marketing.This program will provide a deep-dive into Digital Marketing with a focus on real-world applications, tools, and frame works led by industry practitioners and Great Lakes Faculty while also offering training in critical soft skills for women to negotiate the workplace and get ahead in their careers. This program is open to all women with the Encore scholarships specifically for women on a career break.

A "returnship" is a type of skilling program for individuals who have taken a significant amount of time off from the workforce and are looking to re-enter the workforce. Returnships are often targeted at women who have taken time off to raise children or care for aging parents, but they can be open to anyone who has been out of the workforce for an extended period. These programs are generally short and are designed to provide individuals with a range of functional, soft and life skills to aid their return to full-time jobs.
ENCORE is the acronym for Enabling New Career Opportunities and Returnship through Education. ENCORE is an initiative of the Center of Women’s Leadership at Great Lakes Institute of Management to provide a conduit for women on a career break to refresh their skill sets and develop the confidence to rejoin the workforce.

ENCORE classes are mostly online (live-virtual + online). In addition, for one weekend each month participants have to travel to the Great Lakes Chennai campus for in-person classes. The academic schedule will be shared at the time of program commencement.
ENCORE is a platform offering customised learning modules to suit the needs of women who want to return to work after a career break. Apart from functional skills the need for returnship candidates is mastery of a wide range of soft and life skills to prepare them for the demands of a full-time job. The 6 days of in-person instruction has also been conceived so as to deliver mission-critical personality development interventions. Additionally, aside from the excellent learning experience, prestigious Great Lakes certification and access to the Great Lakes Alumni network ENCORE also provides placement opportunities for graduating candidates.
Yes - The program is location agnostic. However, please ensure that you are able to come to our campus for the face-to-face sessions as detailed in the academic schedule.
The fee is inclusive of tuition (both online and offline component) and placement assistance; The food and stay at our campus near Mahabalipuram or similar location is included in the fee but if participants are travelling from out of Chennai, the cost of travel has to be borne by them.

Great Lakes offers up to 100% Tuition fee waiver evaluated on the basis of merit and means for deserving ‘returnship’ candidates. The extent of the scholarship will be determined based on past performance reports and evidence of personal circumstances as provided by the candidate. Furthermore, affordable loans with attractive repayment options are available from our financial partners such as Bank of Baroda, HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, Auxilo Finserve, ICICI Bank, IDFC First Bank, SBI, etc. The program fee is to be paid in full across one or two installments before program commencement.
Applications to ENCORE will open on March 25, 2023 via an online form hosted here. Once you have submitted your completed application form, you will be called for an interview by the selection panel after which the decision to admit or not will be communicated to you.

Yes, candidates will receive interview opportunities with our partner corporations. Creating an online personal brand, assistance with job-search, resume-building and interview preparation also form a part of the curriculum so that candidates may confidently appear for the placement process.
