Hyperion 2014 is the annual International Business Plan competition conducted by the Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai.

Great Lakes Institute of Management, in partnership with NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network), presents an excellent opportunity for students across the globe to compete and get their business ideas validated by experts in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The competition aims to transform the raw ideas of students into decisive business models through mentoring and incubation assistance.

The theme for Hyperion 2014 is Mobility - with Nobility. The contest is an invitation to innovators to build strong Use Cases in any one of the three tracks of the theme – namely, Social Media and rich communication experience, Web and Mobile technology and Inclusive Growth.

The top two winners of the Business Plan Competition will be given the D.V. Narsinga Rao Memorial Prizes of INR 70,000 and INR 30,000. Narsinga Rao was an alumnus of Great Lakes’ first batch called Pioneers (2004-05 batch). He had over 21 years’ experience in the IT/Software Industry, with more than 12 years as the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of SSI Ltd, a Company listed on the Bombay, National and the London Stock Exchanges. He was instrumental in taking SSI from a start-up to being ranked in the top 500 companies in India by Dun and Bradstreet.

The world lost a true leader in Narsinga Rao on 24th May, 2011 to cancer. He survived by his wife Arundhati Rao and two daughters Divya and Nithya.

The prize money is supported by Mr Narsinga Rao’s classmates and the founder of Great Lakes Institute of management, the legendary Management Guru Dr. Bala V Balachandran.
