Great Lakes Institute of Management and Educomp proudly concludes 7th L'Attitude 13o 05', the Great Lakes Annual Fest on Jan 19 and 20 of 2012

Great Lakes Institute of Management and Educomp are proud to conclude the 7th Great Lakes institute of management Annual Festival L'Attitude 13o 05', on January 19 and 20 of 2012. The festival strived to bring best from industry and the academic world under one roof with the sole purpose of envisioning future power centers of the world in one of the finest B-school events in India. This year, we received an overwhelming response of over 1500 registrations from premier B-Schools across the country. The fest saw over 100 finalists competing for various events.

L'Attitude 13o 05' theme for the year "ENVISIONING EMERGING ECONOMIES…thinking beyond tomorrow" sought to provide a ground for all to imagine how things will change in the times to come. The plethora of flagship events for various domains of Marketing, Finance, Operations and HR had eminent industry personalities from JP Morgan Chase, ICICI Prudential, Sundaram Mutual Funds, Orchid Chemicals, Valcon India, Marg, Film directors, & so on to mark their presence and judge the winners. Competitions such as Equitology, Nirnay, Invader were opportunities for students to bring forward their ideas and equally be a part of the stage in CEO Conclave, the powerhouses of the business world to come together, provide perspectives on business today and challenges of tomorrow especially the leveraging demographics in emerging economies in the field of education.

Mr. Faizal Kottikollon, an entrepreneur industrialist and founder of the Emirates Techno Casting synergy, delivered the Inaugural address. He is also the founder of Al Ahamadi Steel trading, UAE. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Daniel Heiser, Associate Dean, DePaul University, College of Commerce, Chicago. A Ph. D from Indiana University, he has co-authored books on organizational performance and supply chain management.

Mr. Faizal Kottikollon, (Founder & CEO, KEF Holdings, UAE), extending his gratitude for Uncle Bala quoting him as an inspiration to him and to many who have been influenced by his young at heart take on things. Following with a short video on the success story of ETC and his life's journey Dr Daniel Heiser (Associate Dean, DePaul University, College of Commerce, Chicago), emancipated the force that emerging economies make in the modern world and their powerful presence which has the ability to mold the global economic growth and market space for emerging opportunities. Further proposing the synergy that such markets bring into the modern arena for doing business. Dr. Heiser signifies that India falls under the third sector in the measure of doing business in comparison to the rest of the world, pitching in the establishment issues and the growth prospects of businesses and new market opportunities. Sketching the entire market expansion for emerging economies by India, Vietnam, China and the likes, Dr. Heiser also underlines the firm level impact in the terms of retail, media, healthcare etc being the winners whereas Heavy energy users, financial services as the losers. With a panoramic view of the global market the key note speaker enclosed the inaugural speech of L'Attitude 13o 05' with a loud applause.

Prof. Sriram extended the vote of thanks, stated Mr. Faizals impeccable story from rags to riches, and the opportunities he spoke about. Expressing his gratitude and thanks to the dignitaries, students, events committee and the faculties L'Attitude 13o 05' comes to an end to the inaugural ceremony marking the beginning of CEO Enclave comprising of Mr. Allwin Agnel (Founder & CEO, Pagalguy.com), Mr. Amit Agnihotri (Chairman, MBAUniverse.com) and Mr. Ganesh Natarajan (Vice Chairman and CEO, Zensar Technologies). The moderator for the conclave Prof. Tapan Panda, an eminent professor of marketing who has been recently awarded with the Devang Mehta best teacher award, opened the discussion of CEO Conclave, stating the impact of emerging economies in the new global order, which was also emphasized by Dr. Heiser in his opening presentation for the ceremony. Prof. Tapan further signified that the sustenance of an economy as a major factor in identifying the closure or opening of western businesses and the importance of education, illiteracy level, and skill based and higher education wherein the methodology of extending higher education in countries like India is entirely different being the context is totally different than the western teachings.

With the conclusion of CEO conclave, Day-1 began with domain events – Invader (Marketing Event), Spandan (Social Service & Entrepreneurship Event), iHuman (HR Event) and Nirnay (Operations Event). Day-1 ended with performance by Great Lakes Rock band followed by cultural program "Sangmitra." Day-1 winded with the motherjane performing the Gothic & hard rock music.

Day-2 begins with the Innovator (UG & less than 18 month work experience executive), Equitology (Finance – Global equity research competition), zoopraxis (movie making contest) and Dragon Heart (strategy & consulting event). All that is grand and successful has to come to an end, what matters is how deep it leaves footprints for the future. Mr. Prabhat Kumar, Director Construction, BHAVINI, Kalpakam, the chief guest for the function, has the credit of Nuclear Power Program for India. Discussing the power scenario of India post-independence and how it has grown in the due course of time, he focuses on the renewable and non-renewable source of energies. "One has to look forward to something different, which does not disturb the nature, which is sustainable" states Mr. Kumar as he precedes his talk towards the nuclear power generation. Further talking about Bhabha Atomic Research Center he exemplifies the three stage nuclear power generation plan for India. Taking it ahead he specified how the power scene in India has taken shape and experienced a maturity by believing in its own capability and how slowly the technology tilt took place in support of India in comparison to the western countries. Enclosing his ideas he emphasizes on the empowerment of knowledge, technology and experience to be front runners in an unknown territory.

With this the Valedictory function proceeds towards the declaration of results and coming to a closure of Great Lakes L'Attitude 13o 05' - 2012.

The L'Attitude 13o 05' rests for the day with the grand Business quiz "Inquizito", where the teams from b- school & corporate competed for three hours. The quizmaster Gautam Bose, CEO Greycells, kept participants and audience rub their grey cells.
