The primary mission of the Resource Centre is to support the educational and management programmes of Great Lakes by providing physical and intellectual access to information, consistent with the present and the anticipated educational functions of the institute. Our vision is to bring excellent electronic information services to the Great Lakes academic community. In accordance with the objectives of the institute, the Resource Centre aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for the faculty and the student community of the institute. Resource Centre also plays a key role in making our institution an internationally reputed research driven management institution. Established as the knowledge hub, it enables access to information resources of all and provides innovative, responsive, and effective services to meet the changing needs of the academic community. The Resource Centre boasts of an unparalleled collection of books, top management journals, magazines, course materials, project reports, annual reports, news papers, case studies and articles. It also provides access to various research databases like EBSCO, ISI Emerging markets, Proquest, CMIE, Indiastat.com etc. that enable the students in their research activities. In addition, the resource centre also has AV resources that facilitate learning at Great Lakes. The annual budget of the Resource Centre is over Rs. 80 lakh. The Resource Centre currently subscribes to over 65 periodical titles. About 35 titles are accessible online by Resource Centre & about 9000 titles are accessible online through Resource Centre’s database subscription. The total size of the Resource Centre exceeds 5000 books and more than 1000 AV resources. The Resource Centre offers services such as Reference, Referrals, User Guidance Service, Circulation Service including Inter Library Loan and Document Delivery Service, Database service, Article alert service, Weekly display of recent additions of periodicals and books including E-mail distribution of these lists to users on our mailing list, Bibliographic Service, reprographic and document binding Services etc. Current awareness service is provided comprising regular display of reprographic copies of articles published by the Institute faculty and students, in various periodicals that are being received in the Resource Centre. Resource Centre organizes customized information services through membership. The Resource Centre has been using the LIBTRAZE, a web based Library Management software package with RFID technology, for the library housekeeping operations. Using OPAC, users can search the RC Online Catalogue by Author, Title, Subject, and keywords. In addition, the users can know the latest additions of periodicals and books and the status of a document (whether on shelf or on issue). Reservation of a book can be done Online as well. |
